Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has had a rough couple of years. Just a month before the former Miss Universe Pageant owner and reality TV star upset the prohibitive favorite to ascend to the presidency, a dude took a sledgehammer to Trump’s decade-old star. After over a year of harassment, mockery and vitriol from the #resistance, Trump’s second star came face to face with a pickaxe from yet another angry dude, who made sure to tell the world after he got bailed out of jail that several celebrities thanked him for his “real good act.”
Now the embattled star faces oblivion after the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved a resolution this week requesting that Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce permanently remove the hated reminder of who is not their president. Mayor John Duran proudly announced the decision late Monday:
West Hollywood City council unanimously passes resolution asking the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove the Donald Trump star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. #horcruxdestroyed #bellicose #belligerent #unAmericanvalues #MakeAmericaintoAmericaAgain

“Having a ‘star’ on the Walk of Fame is a privilege that is highly sought after by those in the entertainment industry, allowing Mr. Trump to continue to have a star in light of his behavior toward women, particularly in the #timesup and #metoo movements, should not be acceptable in the Hollywood and entertainment industry communities,” reads the resolution, which fails to mention all of the other scandal-plagued celebrities whose stars they have no problem displaying.
The announcement inspired great joy from anti-Trumpers across the country, but a comment from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce following Duran’s announcement will likely not be so enthusiastically received.
“The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark,” said Leron Gubler, the chamber’s president and CEO, the New York Post reports. “Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”
That sure doesn’t sound good for those hoping to erase the entertainment legacy of Trump.
