After Nikki Haley’s surprising announcement that she would resign as ambassador to the United Nations at the end of the year, President Donald Trump mentioned his daughter, Ivanka, as a potentially qualified replacement, according to The Hill.

“I want to tell you, the people…know that Ivanka would be dynamite,” Trump said. “But, you know, I’d then be accused of nepotism, if you can believe it. I think Ivanka would be incredible. You’d be accused of nepotism, even though I’m not sure there’s anybody more competent in the world.”

Ivanka Trump currently serves as a White House adviser with a focus on job creation, economic empowerment, workforce development, and entrepreneurship.

The president’s comment sparked speculation about whether Ivanka was seriously being considered for the position, and whether she’d even be interested.

Ivanka quickly shut that speculation down, addressing the rumors in a Twitter post on Tuesday afternoon.

“It is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley,” she wrote. “That replacement will not be me.”

Earlier in the day, Ivanka had posted a message of appreciation to Haley for her work over the past two years.

“Ambassador Haley has served America with dignity + distinction,” she wrote. “She is a bold reformer and has been an unwavering champion of truth, principled realism and integrity within the United Nations. Jared and I are grateful for her friendship — a true blessing in our lives!”

One name being widely circulated as a potential Haley replacement is Goldman Sachs executive Dina Powell. Powell was formerly a deputy national security adviser in the Trump administration, and CNBC reports that she is in talks with “senior members of the administration” about the job.

Trump said there are four other potential candidates for the job, although he did not name them.

Good for her for not taking on any more than she needs or feels she can do, and for not having a big head about it. Maybe she would be a great UN Ambassador, but she is right to give this job to someone else. Shows humility and smarts.

How about this for a solution–get out of the UN and get the building contents out of NYC? We’d save the salaries plus a lot more.
