Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized Thursday after fracturing three ribs on her left side in a fall at her office a day earlier, the court said in a news release.

Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office. But she later reported experiencing some discomfort, and was admitted to George Washington University Hospital “for observation and treatment.”

Ginsburg has survived a series of health scares. She broke two ribs in a fall in 2012, has had two prior bouts with cancer and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014.

The liberal justice, who studied at Harvard Law School, was nominated to the highest court in the land by former President Bill Clinton in 1993 to replace retiring Justice Byron R. White. Ginsburg was Clinton’s first Supreme Court pick.

Ginsburg is the court’s oldest member and there’s been a great deal of speculation on when she may retire. However, she reportedly hired clerks for the term that extends into 2020, indicating she has no plans to retire.

In the past decade, Ginsburg has transformed into something of a liberal icon, earning the nickname “The Notorious RBG” and appearing on late night television shows including the “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert, where she showed off her workout routine.

The justice married Marty Ginsburg in 1954 and the couple attended Harvard Law School together. The couple met on a blind date when she was 17 years old. Her husband died in 2010 at age 78 of cancer.

In her absence, the court was going ahead Thursday with a courtroom ceremony welcoming new Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who joined the court last month. President Trump and new acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker were expected to attend.

She is in her last days, do you think she is so healthy as to be able to heal like she is a 20 year old? She is all hunched over and ready to fall over at any moment anyway, so it is just very apparent she is not healthy at all, and stiff and brittle too!

I don’t think so. When an elderly person falls and breaks bones, they generally go downhill from that point forward. She’s hanging on just so Trump doesn’t pick another one to fill her shoes. Thing is, her age is against her and that she has no control over. Her thinking process is also not like it used to be. She needs to go home.

It isn’t her ribs or general health I am worried about – it’s her senility and inability to think clearly. Example: During a college presentation she couldn’t recall what the 14th amendment was about until a student handed it to her to read.

She is unable to carry out her SCotUS duties and is only serving as a bookmark to keep a new justice from being brought in by Trump.

Poor thing is brain dead besides cancer and in poor physical and mental health. The left is going nuts this am. It will be a beautiful site to see judges that believe in our Constitution. Any judge, whether a liberal or conservative, that believes in our Constitution would be a good choice. Of course we know the liberals do not believe in our Constitution so obviously it would be someone that is not a liberal. It will be refreshing to see more judges that will rule according to our Constitution rather their political beliefs.

All government employees need term limits including the Justice dept. It is crazy that we let the people who continue to hurt us with politics year after year and they only work for themselves and get paid big bucks from our tax money. But people on Social Security can’t get any raise for all they did to work for it.

For her to stay on the SC to try and wait out Trump is so effed up…. retire, we have the court already, whats one more? How selfish and stubborn and imbecilic can one get? This poor woman is going to die on that Bench for nothing, just because she had some sort of Point to prove! Its sad.

We need term limits for EVERY political position. A life time appointment to the Supreme Court is like being appointed King. I am positive our founding fathers did not have this in mind after fighting against Monarchies for our independence. How bout a ten year term with a two term max for Supreme Court? Congress needs to either have a term limit or be treated as what they are; part-time employees. Cut their pension and health care and we’ll see who will spend $50 million to try to get elected to Congress then. The fix to Social Security and Medicare is simple, put all Federal employees on them. Congress will fix the system in a heart beat when it affects them and their families like our laws do to us.

Obama Care is a,good example. If the politicians say it is so great…Why are THEY not on it ? Why do they have retirements we don’t have ? When did they decide they were better than the populace ? Half of them don’t have the brains of a gnat and none seem to have any common sense. We do need term limits .

This falls right into President Trump’s mid-term strategy. He let the house go in order to solidify the Senate – the place where Supreme Court Justices are confirmed. The house will flip back in two years, but the changes on the Supreme Court will last for decades.

It wasn’t that long ago that Justice Ginsburg was quoted as saying that she planned to retire in year three of President Trump’s 2nd term. That seemed very specific, but I have a feeling she won’t make it that far. Now the Dems have to be going crazy gearing up for the possibility that the President will be called on to make another Court nomination. This time it should be a woman so the Dems can’t claim the nominee is a serial killer, or war criminal.

Ginsburg should be moved from GW to a VA Hospital. Then when the Demoncrats say, “NO!!!”, we can ask then to justify their support for government run healthcare.

I am just guessing but I think that she was standing up and fell asleep, causing her to fall. Or maybe she just fell out of her chair while napping.
