The experts are predicting that Hurricane Irma will be one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded, and because of that, the U.S. Navy is evacuating the personnel there. More than 5,000 people are being evacuated from Naval Air Station Key West

Navy spokesperson Bill Dougherty stated that it is been ordered the “mandatory evacuation of non-essential personnel and dependents from NAS Key West to safe haven within 300 miles of Atlanta, Georgia.”

Irma is expected to hit Florida by Sunday or early Monday with a Category 4 storm.

Maj. Ben Sakrisson, Department of Defense spokesperson, said the safety measures are placed in order to protect the 41 terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

“Joint Task Force Guantanamo is closely monitoring the progress of Irma and is taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the detainees. Plans and procedures are in place to ensure the safety of the detainees throughout this event,” Sakrisson stated.

President Trump declared states of emergency for Puerto Rico, Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

This means the federal funding will provide resources for shelters, mobilization of National Guard units to help with recovery and evacuations.

“This will free up much needed federal funding and assistance as we prepare for Irma,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott stated, saying Trump has been helping them from the start.

Scott said Monday that Trump “offered the full resources of the federal government as Floridians prepare for Hurricane Irma.”

The most catastrophic hurricane in Florida was the Category 5 Hurricane Andrew that hit in 1992 and was labeled as the “strongest hurricane in recorded history.”

If the power of Hurricane Irma is taken too lightly can result in horrible consequences, so people should evacuate immediately in safety.

I’M REALLY THANKFUL TO HAVE A PRESIDENT THAT IS A FAST RESPONDER TO ALL THESE PEOPLE IN SO MANY STATES THAT ARE GOING TO NEED SO MUCH HELP TO NOT ONLY SURVIVE BUT REBUILD THEIR HOMES, BUSINESSES, AND THEIR LIVES….A REAL BREATH OF FRESH AIR TO HAVE SOMEONE THAT CARES ABOUT ALL OF US…RIGHT DOWN TO THE PRISONERS AT GITMO…

You know I was thinking the same thing. So refreshing, to not get all the excuses of why it cant be done, and the speed in which it can be done. No President/politician can compete against this businessman/President. Thank you God we did not vote hrc!

I hope they got the aircraft flown out. They do have F-5’s and F/A-18’s stationed at KeY West.

The statement withing 300 miles of Atlanta, Georgia looks suspicious. Within 300 miles of Atlanta will not even get you out of Florida.
