When Obama took office, he promised to be transparent and open with the American people. But now, the chairmen of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees are requesting that Obama to provide information regarding a secret Muslim resettlement project involving 1,800 refugees that were rejected from Australia.
WND reports that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) sent a letter to the administration, stating, “First, your departments negotiated an international agreement regarding refugees without consulting or notifying Congress. Such information was not disclosed to Congress during the annual refugee consultation that occurred on September 13, 2016 even though your staff confirmed that the agreement had, at the time, been negotiated ‘for months.’”
Barack Obama wants to surpass Congress any chance he gets, while keeping his actions away from the eyes of the media. The only reason Congress knows about this debacle is that they saw media reports about it.
The idea of bringing Muslim refugees to our shores brings up issues of national security and legal issues regarding Obama’s actions. The agreement forged by Kerry is essentially a treaty between two nations and the Secretary of State negotiated it without exercising his constitutional obligations to consult with and notify Congress.
Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Goodlatte, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, are speaking out against Obama’s actions.
Their letter, addressed to Obama continued on to say, “Second, the agreement and the number of refugees to be resettled has been deemed by your departments as classified, thus the American people are left in the dark as to the rationale for this agreement.”
“Third, the individuals who will be resettled are coming from countries of national security concern. In fact, two of the countries are officially designated by the State Department to be State Sponsors of Terrorism.”
The 1,800 Muslim refugees come from countries like Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, and Afghanistan, which are filled with terrorist activity. If Australia did not want these people, surely they are bad enough to keep out of our country.
These refugees were intercepted on the coast of Australia, taken off their unsafe vessels, but were prevented from entering the country. Instead, they were placed in camps on the Islands of Papua New Guinea and Nauru, where they will stay until someone accepts them.
It appears that Obama wants to bring theses people to the United States and make them permanent residents here. Now that Congress has discovered this plot, Obama and Kerry are in hot water.
Grassley and Goodlatte’s letter ended by saying, “Finally, it begs the question why Australia and other countries refuse to admit these individuals, what other countries are doing to help alleviate the situation, what kind of precedent this sets for future refugees interdicted at sea by Australian forces and prevented from entering Australia, and how a similar situation will be prevented in the future.”
Now that Donald Trump has been elected, perhaps Congress has a new confidence to speak up about these potential terrorists. With this new fighting spirit, hopefully, Congress will be able to work with President Trump to keep these unwanted refugees out of the country for good!
