The nation is still reeling from Wednesday morning’s mass shooting in which a gunman opened fire on Republican congressmen as they practiced for a charity baseball game. Now, the shooter’s chilling link to a top Democrat has been revealed.
The Washington Post reported that Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has confirmed that the shooter, James T. Hodgkinson, was a volunteer for his presidential campaign.

Fellow Bernie volunteer Charles Orear, 50, indicated that Hodgkinson was a well known figure on the Bernie campaign trail. Orear told reporters that he campaigned for Bernie alongside Hodgkinson in Iowa.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Orear said when told of what Hodgkinson did. “I met him on the Bernie trail in Iowa, worked with him in the Quad Cities area.”
He went on to describe Hodgkinson as a “quiet guy” who was “very mellow, very reserved” when they stayed together overnight in Rock Island, Illinois.
“He was this union tradesman, pretty stocky, and we stayed up talking politics,” Orear said. “He was more on the really progressive side of things.”
This comes as it was revealed that Hodgkinson regularly posted anti-Trump sentiments on his Facebook page.
