This really will NOT make your day.
Obamacare has drained so much money from the wallet of the average American that it’s not even funny. Rather, it’s disgustingly insane. The faster Trump and Co. can get rid of this deeply flawed healthcare system, the better.
Now we’ve got yet another reason to hope for a speedy repeal.
According to HotAir citing a new report from the Inspector General of HHS, it seems the federal government wants a refund of nearly $10 million…why? Oh, because they’ve discovered the state of Colorado can’t adequately account for millions it received to help implement the Affordable Care Act:
“The report, issued last week by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General, found – among other things – Connect for Health Colorado failed to properly document how it spent $4.4 million of taxpayer money. It also concluded as much as $4.5 million was spent on services and items that were not permitted under guidelines established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
‘These findings were caused by a lack of adequate stewardship of Federal funds,’ said the report. ‘Specifically, the Colorado marketplace had not developed, finalized, and implemented policies and procedures to ensure than it expended and accounted for establishment grand funds in accordance with [government] requirements.’”
Much of the findings in the report involve payments made before 2014 but that’s not the whole story. In fact, nearly half the lost money – $4,504,799, to be exact – was used for “unallowable hardware and software operational support and maintenance contract costs whose periods of benefit occurred after December 31, 2014.”
All of this begs the question: How much more taxpayer money was wasted or lost (i.e., “unaccounted for”) in other states? The Obamacare exchanges haven’t worked efficiently at all and this is just one piece of evidence…chances are, we’ll hear more in the coming months that’ll REALLY tick off taxpayers.
Donald Trump needs to move fast when he gets in office. Further, let’s hope the recently revealed first step in the Republican strategy to dismantle Obamacare pans out.
Because this has gone well beyond ridiculous.
