Dr. Anthony Fauci said Friday that there could be “irreparable damage” if lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic went on too long.

Fauci explained during a segment of CNBC’s “Fast Money Halftime Report” that there could be numerous unintended consequences to keeping the country shut down longer than necessary.

Fauci began by saying that his position had always been that states and regions should open as they passed certain benchmarks and could do so safely while still protecting the more vulnerable populations.

“We can’t stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health,” Fauci explained, adding, “We are enthusiastic about reopening. I think we can do it in pace that would be reasonable and would get us back as a society from a morale standpoint as well as the economy.”

“I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for prolonged period of time is the way to go,” Fauci continued. “We had to do that when we had the explosion of cases, but now is the time depending upon where you are and what your situation is, to look at reopening the economy, reopening the country to try to get back to some degree of normal. I’m totally in favor of that if it’s done in the proper way in the appropriate setting.”

Fauci concluded by saying that he did still have concerns that some areas might bypass the benchmarks for safe reopening and cause an unmanageable spike in cases, but reiterated that it was time to consider taking steps to reopen as soon as your area could do so in a safe and responsible manner.

Ya think? And he’s just coming up with this now? Did they not think about it when they implemented this? The new school reopening in my State requires children over 3 to wear face masks, not touch each other and not have any toys or learning tools that can be shared. How are teachers going to handle this? What would a school day consist of? The teacher runni g around telling kids to stay away from each other and keep their masks on? What are they going to do put them in cages? Talk about stealing away childhood. These people are sick idiots. And what about the poverty and desperation, suicide, domestic abuse, child abuse? I am beyond sickened

I’ve read that up to 40% of parents are now seriously considering home schooling. One of the few positives out of this hoax!

He’s not just now coming up with this and he’s not saying anything different than he’s always said. He’s saying that if it makes sense and fits the guidelines, you can re-open on an incremental basis. No where in this report does he say “open up! Full speed ahead!”. Anyone who advocates something like that is a moron with no regard for the health and wellbeing of those people around them or society as a whole. Stop being such a bunch of dumb-asses and use some common sense here…stop being so un-American. Do this wrong and we’ll have to deal with this all over again…and no, the Donald can’t override the decisions of state governors…read the Constitution.

      • Joe says:

First he said no masks that they don’t help and they’re dangerous to the wearer then he recommended mask …then he said virus isn’t transmitted human to human then he said the opposite ..:then he said it’s not a danger to America then we went into lockdown … with all due respect he’s past his sell by date and your name calling doesn’t help your advocacy. It’s used when problem can’t articulate their position

This “doctor” is just plain evil! He, almost single handedly, with the help of the WHO and Gates, has irreparably damaged not only the economy. but lives of people all over the country, and indeed, the world!

Our AA meetings have had to go to Zoom, while Liquor Stores stay open. Many have relapsed with 5 to 25 years of Sobriety. Overdoses/Deaths in TN were More than Virus Deaths. Fauci who is The Swamp also has Blood on his Hands!

Think Fauci’s disastrous HIV response will ever come to light.. be compared to the C-19 response? MSM isn’t willing to make a ‘DATA DRIVEN SCIENTIFIC’ comparison! LOLOLOL! This is yet another example of depending on people with a proven track record of failure… people in deep, deeply into the Deep State, in American Agencies… well connected, affecting spending… Fauci is even a great friend of the Clintons.. which should have been his first disqualifier, the his FUBAR on HIV a second disqualifier, the DoD/Pentagon questions on Spending on HIV drug questions a third disqualifier… actually… other that Fauci having been in the CDC so long.. just what qualifier was used, where exactly are his success qualifications?
I think that the Dems fully understand what Trump is going to do if re-elected… exactly what Obama did when he was first elected- clean house.. now that Trump understands that no one can negotiate with the Deep State operators… just remove them.
